About the Artist
Artist's Statement
I love to make art that drives people to either laugh or cry, or preferably both. Since people definitely enjoy one more than the other, my art tends to focus heavily on hilarious and relatable subjects.
Cuteness & Vexation is the main outlet for my sense of humor. It's also an expression of love for all the cute, weird, and wonderful creatures with which we share this world. Fine Familiars is a spin off project similar in nature but done in traditional mediums. I sometimes dabble in other styles and subjects. For more of my work, including WIPs, studies, and more, check out my Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. About half of my weekends are spent selling art at conventions. If you see me there, say hello! |
Artist Bio
Nat Rodgers was born in Arkansas, but grew up in a small Mississippi town where there wasn't enough traffic to warrant a stop light. Local schooling offered little in terms of art classes, but that didn't hamper her desire to draw the cartoons she loved. Self-taught through the help of books and (much later) online tutorials, Nat honed her humble skills and began selling art at local art markets and conventions, eventually branching to conventions across the country.
Nat has been illustrating for over a decade. Her art varies from character portraits and creature designs, to fantasy concepts and digital paintings. She is well known in the industry for her humorous animal series, Cuteness & Vexation. Her firm grasp on fantastical, realistic nature scenes drew authors in for commissions related to their work. Burroughs Bibliophiles Golden Lion Award Winner Martin Powell chose her to be the exclusive cover and interior illustrator for his new prose southern gothic series, The Witch of Cypress Creek. Nat lives near Oxford, Mississippi with her patient husband and less-than-patient pets. |
